The Commissioned Dance Production (CDP)

The Dance Earth, in conjunction with Ofrenda Fest and Queens Council On The Arts (QCA), offers a unique program that aims to connect people with the natural world through Dance. The program is designed to help participants develop a sense of reverence for the earth and all its inhabitants.  This series of events will feature original dance pieces commissioned through QCA's Dance Commissioning Program (DCP) and funded through the generosity of the Mertz Gilmore Foundation.

The Commissioned Dance Production (CDP) is now open! Through this program, choreographers, dance artists, and small dance organizations can receive up to $2000 in funding to support their work.

This grant is designed to encourage artists to delve into the world of the elements and connect with the planet in a meaningful way. By exploring themes such as climate change and the environment, artists can help us to develop a deeper understanding of our place in the world and our role in protecting it. Through their work, they can inspire us to reconnect with nature and develop a more conscious relationship with the world around us.

The selected dance groups will be featured in events hosted by Ofrenda Fest and Queens Council on the Arts from September to December. These events will take place at various locations around Queens, New York.

The applications will close on September 30th.

Ofrenda Fest's Dance offerings creates spaces to connect through dance, ancestral ceremonies, and music. We are looking for groups that can narrate stories with movement, helping us remember the world we live in. Ancient traditions remind us that we are all the elements we carry: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and Spirit. By embracing these elements, we can find our own healing. It all starts with gratitude; when we feel grateful, things change, and life becomes more meaningful.
