The Mision of Ofrenda Fest

We live in societies that make us believe that we are separate from the natural elements of our planet. But there are global, communal, and personal consequences for living in this way. Our separation allows us to disregard and exploit these resources, and puts chasms between ourselves and others, as well as within. Ofrenda Fest will celebrate ideas of connectedness, balance, and the all-encompassing influence of giving back to Mother Earth through Art, Dance, Painting, Photography, Film, Music and Ritual Ceremonies.

Why Ofrenda?

An ofrenda (offering) is a practice that dates back to ancient times. Many cultures have different ways of conducting ofrendas. Ofrendas are used in many cultures to show gratitude to the elements and Mother Earth for everything they provide to us.

Our organization aims to merge ancestral traditions with the arts as a way to give back to the planet and ourselves. We provide a safe space to facilitate these connections and allow the community to interact with indigenous cultures.

Indigenous communities around the world are at the forefront of promoting these messages. New York City (NYC) has been the epicenter for hosting these conversations, and the Ofrenda fest has served as a stage for many communities to come together and celebrate their traditions and rituals through our events and programming.

The Space

Our art space is divided by the four classical elements  Air, Water, Fire,  Earth and joined by a fifth, the Spirit in a central Altar. This call encourages all artists, filmmakers,  photographers, sculptures,  dancers and spiritual healers,... to join us in this celebration! On this call we want to see through your craft how you connect with an element, what inspires you and what you can give in return to  enlightenment others.
