ESSENTIALS OF AIRBRUSHING  Duration: 2 days 6 hours total

Level 1 November 18th and 19th 4-7pm 

The "Essentials of Airbrushing" workshop is designed to introduce participants to the art and technique of airbrushing. Whether you're a beginner looking to explore a new artistic medium or an experienced artist looking to refine your skills, this workshop will provide a comprehensive introduction to airbrushing. Participants will learn the fundamentals of airbrushing, including equipment setup, maintenance, and various techniques to create stunning airbrushed art.  

Day 1: Introduction to Airbrushing --Understanding airbrush equipment: We will discuss different types of airbrushes, compressors and other tools. --How to choose the right equipment for your specific needs.   Airbrush set up and maintenance:  --Hands-on demonstration of assembling and disassembling an airbrush. -- Proper cleaning and maintenance techniques to prolong equipment life.  -Essential exercises… and the most important ones!: These are the most important and the foundations for it all. Not only will you understand the airbrush by experiencing it through these basic practices, but once learned, you will use them throughout your whole airbrush career. You will learn how to create:  Lines Dots Distance Gradients Blending Monochrome and others Stenciling  Textures.

 Day 2 --Advanced techniques for landscapes, water and striking skies.  --Application of textures in realism. --Importance and application of minimalism in every details.  --color mixing and blending.

 Troubleshooting:  Addressing common issues and challenges in airbrushing  Finishing and protecting your art  By the end of this workshop, you will have gained the skills and confidence to start your airbrushing journey and create your own and unique airbrush art.  This workshop is suitable for artists of all level and provides a strong foundation for further exploration and creativity in the world of airbrushing.  

Workshop materials and requirements: --Airbrush equipment --compressors --Airbrushing paint --airbrush cleaner and brushes --practice sheets and surfaces --masking materials for stenciling --color wheel and mixing tools -- Protective gear (respirator, gloves, goggles)

About the Instructor:

Reinaldo Castro is a multi-disciplinary artist, illustrator, and muralist from Venezuela, currently based in NYC. With over 30 years of experience, he has worked as an art painter, illustrator, and body painter. Additionally, he has 15 years of experience as a film set decorator and special effects wardrobe in the television and theater industries.
