Healing with medicinal plants is an ancestral practice of the Andean people of Ecuador, based on the use of herbs and other natural elements to treat physical, emotional and spiritual ailments. It represents a deep connection between human beings and nature, with oneself and with others.
The Saraguro people live in Connection with nature—to heal is to recognize nature's inherent wisdom. Their practice reflects a profound respect for the natural environment and the cycles of life.
Ancestral wisdom of the Saraguro people: Through countless generations of observation, practice, and oral tradition, they have carefully cultivated and preserved their extensive botanical knowledge. This deep understanding of medicinal plants and their properties, along with their spiritual significance and ceremonial uses in healing practices, has been passed down through centuries.
