This opportunity provides a rare chance to share personal moments with Chief Matsini, his family, and Jordao. These cross-cultural collaborations offer valuable insights into the traditional ecological knowledge that has supported these communities for centuries in one of the world's most crucial ecosystems. Chief Matsini's wife, Manxyvake, along with his two eldest children, Kuru and Kenetsãiny, will also be present.
Matsini Yawanawá learned about medicines and the spiritual path from a very early age. His father was an important teacher and devoted student of the legendary shaman Tatá. As he matured, Matsini also studied with Tata, becoming the spiritual leader and Chief of Mutum village. Following his vision, he founded Samakey in Mutum—a place where people can study, observe traditional "dietas", and retreat, surrounded by the sacred medicines that grow there.
